Family Portraiture
Most photography for family portraiture sessions take place on Sydney's beautiful Northern Beaches in the hour before sunset, when the light is soft, warm. If the weather isn't on our side, we'll simply reschedule, or if needed, we can discuss one of my indoor or in-home options.
I allow plenty of time for every session because I never want anyone to feel rushed. Children need time to warm up, parents need time to relax, and the best photographs often happen in between the planned moments.
The only thing I ask is that you come ready to enjoy yourselves. You don't need perfectly behaved children or any experience in front of the camera. My role is to gently guide you/your family while capturing genuine moments of love, laughter and connection.
Location
If you’re in Sydney, Lisa can come to your home or a nearby location for your family photo session. She often recommends visiting the Northern Beaches as there are lots of stunning locations to get that perfect shot.
Your session
My style of photography has always been about capturing connection rather than perfection. While some children are perfectly comfortable in a studio, I've found that many young children are much more relaxed outdoors, where they can move freely instead of feeling like they're expected to sit still and smile. The beach creates an environment where everyone can simply enjoy being together, and that's when the most authentic photographs are made.
Visually, I love everything the beach offers. The soft blue of the ocean, the creamy sand and the open skies create a timeless colour palette that complements every family without distracting from them. The clean, uncluttered background means your family is always the hero of the photograph.
Many of my favourite locations also include beautiful natural rock formations along the Northern Beaches, providing relaxed seating for families and larger groups while adding texture and variety to your gallery.
Over the years, I've become known for creating natural, happy family portraits at the beach. My sessions are relaxed, playful and never rushed. Rather than directing every moment, I gently guide your family while giving everyone the space to interact naturally.
Lisa also offers maternity and newborn packages.
The Details
Step 1: Call or email
This gives us the chance to chat about your family, what you're hoping for from your photoshoot, and the memories you'd love to capture. We'll also talk about your children (or anyone else involved), how everyone feels about having their photo taken, and discuss the best time of year, suitable dates and beautiful locations for your session.
After our conversation, I'll email you my Family Photography Information Guide. This guide takes you through everything you need to know about your portrait experience, including:
.What to expect during your session
.My portrait collections
.How your collection credit can be used towards products such as fine art prints, framed wall art and handcrafted albums
.Frequently asked questions
.How to reserve your session
To reserve your session, you pay a $350 session fee to hold your date and time.
(As all sessions are photographed outdoors using beautiful natural light, there may occasionally be a need to adjust your session date due to unsuitable weather or illness. If this happens, we'll simply arrange another date that suits everyone.)
Step 2 : Booking Confirmation
Once your booking is confirmed, I'll send you my Family Session Guide, filled with helpful advice to make the most of your photoshoot.
Inside you'll find tips on what to wear, preparing the children, what to bring, timing, and how to help everyone feel relaxed and enjoy the experience.
Step 3 : Photoshoot on location
I send a confirmation/reminder email the week before the session
The session typically last 90 minutes, sometimes more or less, but there's no specific time limit or charge if we go over time.
Step 4: Preview your images
About 2 weeks after your session, I'll reach out with a private link where you'll be able to preview all of your brand-new, fully-edited images a slideshow, from there then choosing what package you would like. Then, once you've seen exactly what we got, you'll be ready to choose what you want to purchase.
Step 5: Choose your Collection
Along with a virtual stack of digital images, each collection option comes with a print credit, so you can get your favourite pictures where they belong: in print, where you can see them each and every day.
